Overview

International Symposium on Automotive Lighting 2017

In 1995 the first symposium took place in the “Kekulé” lecture room at the TU Darmstadt. Since then, more than two decades have elapsed and the location of the event has been changed to the immense and representative new congress centre “darmstadtium”. After having received over 800 experts at ISAL 2015, it was a great pleasure to welcome nearly 1000 international designers, engineers, scientists and decision makers in automotive lighting industry at the ISAL 2017.

ISAL 2017 was by all means the largest ISAL so far and a huge success. Many new introductions like the award ceremony and the “Posters & Beer” – Session were welcome additions to the event.

The “Best Paper Award” was given to E. O. Rosenhahn from Automotive Lighting for his paper “Beam Pixelation for Dynamic Camera Controlled Low Beam Lighting Functions”. Best Paper Nominees were

o „High Beam Optimization For Low Resolution Glare Free High Beam“, J. Kobbert, TU Darmstadt

o „A New Traffic Participant and its Language“, M. Hofer, BMW Ag

o „Development of 288 Segments Matrix ADB System with Improved Both Visibility and Comfort”, Y. Takahashi, Stanley Electric Co.

The “Best Presentation Award” was given to J. Hager, OSRAM for his Presentation on „Handling 17W of Scanning Laser Power – Three Years of Exploration in the iLaS Project”. The Poster on „Thin Lens Solutions for Front Lighting“ by A. Perrotin, Valeo was voted the best submitted Poster on the ISAL.
