Excursion to Pracht: Students of the Light Technology II Lecture visit the Luminaire Manufacturer
2024/06/11
At the end of May, students from the Light Technology II lecture had the opportunity to visit the company Pracht. The excursion was accompanied by Dr. William Truong, a former doctoral candidate of the department, who completed his PhD within the company. The visit began with an introduction to the company and an overview of the newly launched project Infinity. The presentation, which sparked great interest among the students, was followed by a tour of the production halls. Here, both the luminaire production and the extrusion facilities, where plastic parts for the luminaires are manufactured, were showcased. Pracht has been relying on recyclates, i.e., reused plastics, for many years. After lunch, there were lectures on sustainability and product development, which also facilitated an intensive exchange between the speakers and the students. The day concluded with a tour of the company's own technology center, where new luminaires are developed and tested. The students were enthusiastic about the day and gained a lot of new information. We thank Dr. Truong for organizing the day as well as Pracht for the opportunity to visit the company.
